Light color temperature and room ambiance

The color temperature of the light sources you choose helps set the mood in a room. Relaxation and calm or energy and focus?

In this blog article, ALUMINOR gives you advice on choosing the quality of light that will enhance the decoration of your living room and make you feel good there.

What is light color temperature?

Color temperature is expressed in Kelvin (K). It corresponds to a characteristic of the light diffused by a light source that will influence the perception of light. To simplify, the lower the number of Kelvin of the light source (bulb, light fixture, etc.), the more the diffused light is said to be "warm", the higher the number of Kelvin, the more the diffused light is said to be "cold".

What light color temperature should you choose for a living room?

  • Warm light for a relaxing atmosphere

To create an atmosphere conducive to relaxation and conviviality in your living room, ALUMINOR advises you to focus on lights and/or bulbs that diffuse a warm light. Choose lights (or bulbs) from 1500 to 3000 K. This slightly orange light is pleasant and creates a slightly subdued atmosphere, conducive to relaxation.

  • In a living room, mixing lighting moods is a good idea

In a living room, you can nevertheless choose to mix lights with different color temperatures to create different atmospheres.

In one part of the living room, create a cozy corner by installing a 2700 K floor lamp such as the LIB LED, EDEN LED or ZEN LED designer floor lamps from the ALUMINOR designer lighting collections.

In another part of the living room, choose one or two table lamps with a 3500 K light source for a more studious atmosphere, for example.

In a living room with bohemian decor, you can choose designer lighting with almost orange light sources to warm up the room.

If your living room decor is very modern, you can choose one or two light fixtures (a floor lamp and a table lamp for example) with 4000 K light sources for a very contemporary decor.

But it's all a matter of taste and feeling.

Try, experiment with combinations and choose the lighting combinations that will make your living room a corner of paradise!
